“If we didn’t have such a shit-hot website, we wouldn’t have won Most Innovative Music Workshop Provider in the Non-Profit Organisation Awards 2023!”

About the client

MusicLinks is an award-winning music education charity dedicated to delivering interactive workshops that aim to inspire and build confidence in young people and individuals with complex needs. Founded in 2002 by Anice Paterson, Andy Halsey, and The Westmorland Music Council, the charity has grown into a team of passionate community musicians who introduce people of all ages to new and exciting musical experiences.
MusicLinks collaborates with renowned musicians such as Billy Bragg, Angharad Jenkins, Lade Nade, David Ford, Donovan, and the band Dodgy, providing memorable opportunities for participants to engage with these artists. The charity also showcases an innovative online grid-instrument that allows users to play on screen alongside well-known musicians. As a testament to its impact and creativity, MusicLinks has received two national awards for innovation in the community and one for promoting green issues. Their recent accolade, “Most Innovative Music Workshop Provider” in the Non-profit Organisation Awards 2023, highlights the importance of a strong online presence. With a stunning website designed by AiSight, MusicLinks continues to create transformative musical experiences for those who most need them.

The challenge

MusicLinks had a self-built website on WordPress.org that didn’t effectively represent their brand or mission. Their goal was to undergo a complete website redesign, with concise and clear copy that would clearly communicate their services and purpose, while also ensuring a user-friendly browsing experience for visitors.
In addition to preserving their original logo, MusicLinks wanted to incorporate an interactive musical grid feature on their site, consisting of YouTube videos that could be played simultaneously and function smoothly on Android mobile devices. The challenge was to create an aesthetically pleasing, informative, and engaging website that would fully capture the essence of MusicLinks and its innovative approach to music education.

The solution

To address the challenges faced by MusicLinks, we embarked on a comprehensive website redesign process that prioritised their brand identity and user experience. We collaborated closely with MusicLinks to gain a deep understanding of their goals, mission, and services, ensuring that the new website accurately reflected their vision.
We carefully crafted the website copy to communicate their unique value proposition while keeping the content accessible and engaging for users. The website layout and navigation were optimised for a seamless browsing experience across different devices, making it easy for visitors to explore the various services and projects offered by MusicLinks.
We developed a custom interactive musical grid feature, integrating multiple YouTube videos that could be played simultaneously and function flawlessly on both desktop and Android mobile devices. This innovative feature allowed users to fully immerse themselves in the MusicLinks experience, showcasing the charity’s commitment to music education and fostering a connection between their audience and the talented musicians they work with.

The result

The result was a visually striking and user-friendly website that not only elevated MusicLinks’ brand presence but also provided a platform for their innovative approach to music education to truly shine.
